The contemporary art/modern art movement of Minimalism became largely popular during the 1960s. Minimalism was a modern art/contemporary art movement which could be easily translated into architecture and furnishing and it was.
The idea behind Minimalism was to strip down form to its very basics and then strip it down even further. The result was a fresh and simplistic article with the emphasis being on the audience being able to view the artwork with increased intensity and focus on the meaning without the distraction and clutter of form and composition.
As the modern art/contemporary art movement of Minimalism evolved, the idea of using nature as a focal point had vanished and focus was on what caught the eye as opposed to interpretation of life or nature.
The pioneering artists of the modern art/contemporary art movement of Minimalism were the likes of: Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, John McCracken, Robert Morris, Richard Serra and Frank Stella. |
