Artists:
Angela Cork
Angela Cork graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art in 2002. Her pieces are complex structured arrangements concerned with the space both within and surrounding the object. Inspiration is found in architectural forms as well as Japanese and formal gardens.
Esther Lord
Esther Lord graduated from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with an MA in 2006. Her current collection of hand-crafted vessels explores containment and volume, light and surface pattern. Her intention is to create intriguing and complex forms that can engage on an artistic level whilst still being functional.
Alan Craxford
Alan Craxford is well known for his hand engraved Jewellery. Working on a larger scale, he has developed his signature Mandala pieces into new groups of Celestial Spinning Bowls. Finely balanced, these richly enamelled pieces can be gently turned on their stone bases.
Ane Christensen
Ane Christensen graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art in 1999. Each work is created from a single piece of silver; no elements are either added or removed. Her latest silverware explores negative space, deconstruction and optical illusion.
Grant McCaig
After studying at Glasgow School of Art, Grant McCaig established a studio in Edinburgh in 1998. McCaig’s lively domestic hollowware is inspired by a love of making combined with an interest in simple solutions to the design of everyday objects.
Shimara Carlow
Shimara graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2001, after which she completed a residency at the Bishopsland Workshops in South Oxfordshire. Her silversmithing range is based on pod vessels which she hand raises using fine silver and 24ct gold.
Don Porritt
Don Porritt creates distinctive and functional silverwork using a sculptural approach. The vibrancy of rivers, rapids, cascades and the fluidity of water in its many moods are the collective inspiration for these modern domestic pieces.
Martyn Pugh
Martyn Pugh's work is rooted in the purity of natural form and the geometry of engineering and architecture. He enjoys the manipulation of silver, using its malleability to produce flowing shapes and its reflective quality to emphasise line.
Mary Ann Simmons
Mary Ann Simmons graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art in 2000. She designs and makes objects that explore the link between silver as a decorative material and the personal, ornamental and commemorative object.
