Interview with the artist Aileen Carruthers

Aileen Curruthers is a British based artist who has an interesting story to tell regarding her artistic upbringing. We conducted an interview with Aileen to dig deeper into her life as an artist:

1. Background of yourself/Biography of yourself up until present day

I come from a nursing background, and began my nursing training when I was 20. At the end of my training I was admitted to psychiatric hospital with Anorexia Nervosa. It was at this time I would draw/sketch to both release my feelings and pass time ( first since doing my 'o'grade art at school ). Five years later I was re-admitted to hospital, where I stayed for 18 months, and again used art as a release. I'm now 41, and still suffer from anorexia, but now live happily with my partner and two young children.
