Buying prints

If I could, I would have written this article with only five words, 'don't buy modern art prints!' Unfortunately it wouldn't be a fair evaluation of why you shouldn't buy modern art prints and you probably wouldn't take my word for it. So I will explain why you shouldn't buy modern art/contemporary art prints.

Modern art artists put a huge amount of effort, focus and creative thinking into their work and they receive very little in return. Very few artists make a living out of their modern art and even fewer become rich!

The current trend associated with the general modern art buyer who wants to make their house look nice with some modern art is to spend as little as possible. I can understand why people get scarred at the idea of spending as little as £100/$190 on a painting but I can't understand why people are prepared to spend £50/$90 on a print.

The reason why I can't understand this is that prints are manufactured with computer aided design and are printed on industrial sized printers. This process results in an image/print that has a low resolution and looks lifeless. For only an extra £50/$90 you could buy a good quality piece of original modern art, on canvas, from an online art gallery. Your original modern art canvas will have been individually hand crafted by a real artist and will make your room come alive!

The resolution of a canvas painting will be fantastic! The artist will have hand painted it using top range paints, the colours will be vibrant using a colour range which dwarfs that of a standard 250 colour print (250 colour is the standard colour range used for prints, with a canvas painting the colour range is unlimited). With a canvas painting the brush strokes are visible which creates enormous character compared to a subdued print which has no depth and is lifeless.

Imagine the satisfaction of owning an original piece of modern art which nobody else has!

There are many problems associated with buying modern art prints. For example they can look great on the website which is selling them but when they are delivered to your home many people are greatly disappointed.

I hope that the above comments have convinced you not to by prints. Just consider that if you were to spend a little more money, you could buy an original modern art canvas painting!
